29th Cry of the excluded in Vitória/ES

The 29th Cry of the Excluded took place on September 7, 2023, in Vitória/ES, organized by the Church, unions and social organizations. The walk began by leaving Portal do Príncipe, the place where a popular leader was murdered in 2022, and ended at Palácio Anchieta.

One of the strong phrases that permeated this journey was the motto: “I am hungry and thirsty, for what?” It is a question that worries us and makes us reflect on the countless injustices that occur. Father Kelder (from the Vicariate for Social and Political Action of the Archdiocese), pastor of the parish of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, motivated the opening prayer, which helped us reflect on the text of 1 Cor 13:1-10, the “Hymn to love”. He clearly emphasized that true charity, true love is that which makes us come out of ourselves and see others as our brothers and sisters. When we rewrite history with Love, then we will be able to build a better world.

Social pastoralists, priests, religious, seminarians, some civil entities and people encouraged to fight for a more fraternal and just world were present.
