2nd Archdiocesan Congress on Addiction Ministry Córdoba, Argentina

On June 25 and 26, the 2nd Archdiocesan Congress on Addiction Ministry took place, organized by Father Pablo Viola and the addiction ministry team. Participants included priests, religious, laypeople, and us as a community; Sr. Marisa served as a speaker and moderator for one of the sessions.

It was a time to reflect on the journey taken by the Hogar de Cristo (Home of Christ)—present in various parishes across the country—and on the experiences of the men and women living there as they move forward and overcome their struggles.

Guided by the teachings of Pope Francis—the inspiration behind Hogar de Cristo—the event emphasized the need to continue creating networks of mercy and to maintain the community's distinctive spirit in carrying out this mission. It highlighted the importance of continuing to set up "field hospitals" to address the loneliness, pain, and lack of being heard experienced by those living on the streets. Prevention is a task to be undertaken collaboratively by the Chapel, the School, and the Club.

State policies were also shared regarding how the Church can respond to the phenomenon of addiction.

We concluded with the Eucharist, processing to the Córdoba Cathedral and passing by the window of the room where Pope Francis stayed during his time in the city.
