2nd Quilombola Youth Force Meeting

"Lead young people to see the simple moments, the strength that arises from loss, the security that springs from chaos, the greatness that emanates from small gestures!"

Augusto Cury

On October 26th, the 2nd FORÇA JOVEM QUILOMBOLA Meeting took place in the Quilombo (descendants of slaves) of Tatupeva – Municipality of Adrianópolis/PR.

The gathering took place amidst lush nature and the warm welcome of the Quilombola community of Tatupeva. The environment was very well prepared so that people felt at home.

The meeting provided the youth with an important moment of reflection on Quilombola identity and belonging to the territory, a place where the history of ancestors and the present day is preserved.

The discussions focused on the climate crisis and the care for our common home, recalling Pope Francis's Laudato Si'. The areas inhabited by the Quilombola people—the forests, waters, and fauna—are carefully protected.

The sporting activities fostered camaraderie, interaction, and mutual support through men's and women's soccer, volleyball, running, wrestling, capoeira, and others.

Here is a special thank you to the partners who made possible not only the realization of another meeting, but above all the strengthening of the Quilombola Youth, which brings to its agendas self-knowledge, training, information, the development of their skills, the maintenance of culture, learning from their ancestors, and the defense of their territory.

To the Quilombo of Tatupeva and to Missionary Miriam Bernardete de Souza, who works with the Pastorinhas in Adrianópolis, immense GRATITUDE for the dedication and care they had in organizing this event.

Sr. Ângela Biagioni, sjbp
