Pauline Pilgrimage 2025

This year, as we celebrate the Jubilee Year—a significant occasion in the Church and a year of grace for all—we are grateful for the revival of this initiative. Sr. Purisima Tañedo, our Provincial Superior, has arranged for eleven Sisters to participate this pilgrimage taking place from April 3 to April 23, 2025. A total of 40 pilgrims from the Pauline Family joined this journey, including members from the Society of St. Paul (SSP), Daughters of St. Paul (FSP), Pious Disciples of the Divine Master (PDDM), and Sisters of Jesus Good Shepherd "Pastorelle" (SJBP).

In addition to the eleven Pastorelle Sisters coming from the Philippines, there are three Pastorelle Sisters who are already in Rome for the Formators' Course and the Charism Course. We are grateful to our Sisters in Australia for their generosity in sponsoring us for this pilgrimage. We would also like to express our appreciation to Sr. Aminta Sarmiento Puentes, our Superior General, for allowing us this wonderful opportunity to visit sacred places and deepen our understanding of the Pauline spirit as we follow in the footsteps of our Founder, Blessed James Alberione.

During this Pauline Pilgrimage, we visited the places of our origins, including the birthplace of Blessed James Alberione, the church where he was baptized, where he received his First Communion and Confirmation. We also explored the seminary he attended, the church where he was ordained, the site of his First Mass, and his first assignment as a priest. Additionally, we visited the churches he built and other significant locations related to our family, as well as the birth and death places of other Blesseds and Venerables of the Pauline Family.

We spent a week in Alba, a nice yet chilly city in the northern part of Italy. During our stay, we visited several notable places: Bra, Sanfre, Benevello, Mango, Cherasco, Narzole, and San Lorenzo-Fossano. We also visited our Sisters at Casa Madre in Albano, where we were warmly welcomed by our elderly Sisters. It was a great blessing to see and talk personally with our first Superior General, Madre Celina Orsini. We are also grateful to Sr. Marta and the Juniors for their warm welcome at the Traversari Community.

Special thanks to Sr. Roselle and all our Sisters in the Generalate in Rome for all their efforts in making this pilgrimage meaningful for us. In Rome, we had the opportunity to visit the four Papal Basilicas: St. Peter's Basilica where we carry the Jubilee Cross to the Holy Door, St. Paul's Basilica, St. Mary Major Basilica, and St. John Lateran Basilica. Additionally, we explored the Vatican Museum, the Colosseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the largest Baptistery in the world. We also visited Assisi, where we saw the Church restored by St. Francis, the Church of St. Clare and Santa Maria Maggiore Church where the body of Blessed Carlo Acutis was buried.

Thank you to everyone who journeyed with us on our pilgrimage. We remembered you all during our visits to these foundational "places of grace."

With all these experiences, we praise and thank God for the marvels he has done for us in this PAULINE PILGRIMAGE. It is truly a wonderful experience of profound meaning as sisters & children of Alberione. This gift can only come from the goodness of God and our hearts can only exclaim "GLORY TO GOD!".

The Pilgrims: Sisters Ampy, Annie, Bona, Edith,
