Pilgrimage of the Pastoral “Bread of the Poor”

“Do not let them steal your hope” (Pope Francis)

The “Bread for the Poor” Pastoral of the Santo Antônio Parish in Bento Gonçalves/RS, delivers basic food baskets to four groups of poor and migrant people during the month. And as part of the Jubilee Year 2025, on 04/11/2025, a pilgrimage was held with one of the groups.

On this day, before receiving the basic food basket, the Jubilee pilgrimage was led by us, the Little Pastor Sisters, and by the volunteers who help with this ministry. There were motivations, songs, prayers, opportunities for reflection and moments of silence, all the way to the Sanctuary of Saint Anthony.

Inside the Sanctuary we made three stops: the first at the Baptismal Font; the second before the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as our Pope Francis says: “It is from the Heart of Jesus that hope is born”. Finally, the third stop was before the Cross and the Jubilee lamp.

At the end, there was a time of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the priest's words. We were surprised by the silence, attention and participation of the group. And, to our surprise, the presence of a large number of participants.

Our gratitude to God for the consolation and joy. We give thanks to God for other pilgrimages that have already been made during this jubilee year, with a large group of caretakers, communities, and other pastoral groups. During the year, we will carry out this walk with 20 groups.
