Unity and Communion as a Pauline Family: Triduum in preparation for Priestly Ordination

“The mission of the Little Shepherds is to be in the Parish

as a living presence of Jesus the Good Shepherd”

(Fr. Alberione).

In preparation for the Ordination of Deacon Leidson Farias, ssp, a vocational triduum was held in Palmeira dos Índios/AL, from November 19th to 21st, 2026. The triduum took place in his home parish – São Sebastião.

For this mission, we had the participation of four priests, one clergyman, and three Pauline seminarians; one Daughter of St. Paul and one aspirant; one Disciple of the Divine Master and two Shepherdess Sisters.

The mission took place in rural communities and in the parish church. We visited families, sick people received the Anointing of the Sick, we prayed together with families, and in some homes, Masses were celebrated.

We were present in schools, where we had the opportunity to interact with students and teachers. In each community, in the afternoon, there were confessions and prayer, and in most communities, the people gathered for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, concluding with the Eucharistic Celebration.

We were always very well received, and the leaders accompanied us with great dedication and attention. The communities are dynamic and were prepared to celebrate. These were days of unity and communion among us of the Pauline Family.

To sustain ourselves spiritually, we prayed together every morning, as there was a chapel where we were staying, at the Pius XII Pastoral Center, very close to the Cathedral.

We met the family of the newly ordained priest Leidson, an opportunity to spend time with and share life with this family who are giving a son to the Pauline Family. We also shared snacks and dinner, drinking plenty of coconut water to stay hydrated and revitalize our energy.

On November 22, 2025, at 7:30 pm, we celebrated the ordination at the Cathedral of Palmeira dos Índios. The ceremony was presided over by the new bishop of Caicó/RN, Dom Antônio Ranis Rosendo – a Redemptorist, ordained bishop in May of this year.

We have much to be thankful for. We lived among simple, humble people who value priestly and religious life.

Sr. Rosa de Paula e Sr. Elisabéte Martins, sjbp
