Vale do Ribeira received a visit from the CNBB Commission

On April 20 and 22 of this year, the traditional communities of Vale do Ribeira, in São Paulo and Paraná, received a visit from the Special Commission for Integral Ecology and Mining, from the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CEEM-CNBB).

This visit required a series of preparatory meetings, as the Commission's objective was to see, hear and publicize the reality experienced by the population, with the action of mining companies that have already explored and those that are still exploring or planning to explore the region. Mining is necessary, but there are mechanisms that make it responsible for society and the environment where it is installed. This does not happen in Vale do Ribeira, as shown in the Commission Report, which we can find in the article recently published on the CNBB website.

We Little Shepherds, followers of Jesus the Good Shepherd, who wants life for everyone, cannot be complicit in this system of death, much less watch from behind the scenes, but we have to get our hands dirty and be with those affected by the misfortunes caused by mining. .
