The São Frei Pio Community, located in the Jardim Teresópolis neighborhood – Caxias do Sul/RS, celebrated the feast of its patron saint in two special moments. The Pastorinhas Sisters have been working in this community since its beginning in 2004, helping in the various pastoral activities and in the formation of leaders.
Saint Friar Pio, a Capuchin priest born in Pietrelcina, Italy, in 1887, died on September 23, 1968. He dedicated his life to caring for the poorest and most needy, building a hospital called “Casa Alívio do Sufrimento”. He listened to and helped many people who needed guidance or the sacrament of reconciliation. Today the saint is venerated throughout the world and his testimony of mercy, giving and faith is an example for those who believe in and follow Jesus Christ.
The Saint Friar Pio community celebrated the Feast on 09/15/24, with the Eucharistic Celebration that began at 10:30 am, with considerable participation, with the presence of the community, partygoers and devotees, who came from other places. The festive lunch was at 12:30 pm, followed by a moment of entertainment that delighted everyone present.
Another important moment took place on 09/22 and 09/23. On the Sunday before Saint Frei Pio's day, a visit was made to two families in the community who have sick people. On the way to the families, songs were sung and upon arriving at the house, a prayer was said. The families were very happy to receive the visit of the patron saint and the community. Afterwards, in the church, the celebration concluded with Eucharistic Adoration.
On 09/23/24, at 7:30 pm, Saint Frei Pio's day, the Eucharistic Celebration took place. Those present participated with great faith and gratitude to God for the graces and blessings received through the intercession of this great saint. At the end of the celebration, remembering the mission of each baptized person to be “salt of the earth”, the blessed salt was given.
May Saint Frei Pio intercede for families, communities and people in need.
