Junior Sisters’ Renewal of Vows: A Time of Reflection and Gratitude

From July 30 to August 2, we, the junior sisters – Mila Rose Abenis, Bea Collados and Emilyn Palma – experienced a grace-filled time of sharing, listening, reflection, and prayer in preparation for the first renewal of our vows. The integration and programming sessions were lovingly facilitated by our formator, Sr. Arsenia G. Estrada.

We began by sharing our varied experiences in the communities where we are currently assigned. Our reflections were enriched by the words of the Prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah, particularly the image of God as the potter and ourselves as the clay. This powerful metaphor reminded us that we are continually being shaped and formed by God's loving hands.

Together, we elaborated our Formative Program, taking into account the realities of our mission: our community life, pastoral involvement, and academic commitments.

On August 2, we had our recollection day, guided by Sr. Purisima L. Tañedo. She began with an introduction to Pope Francis' encyclical letter Dilexit Nos, which calls us to deepen our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We were invited to allow our hearts to be molded by the heart of the Good Shepherd.

Our reflection focused on Psalm 150: “Let everything that lives and that breathes give praise to the Lord.” This Psalm is a joyful and constant invitation to praise God for His marvelous deeds - using various musical instruments that symbolize the many ways we respond to God's actions in our lives. One particularly meaningful moment was when we personally reflected on the question: What instrument am I in God's hands? This led us to revisit our journey as first-year junior sisters and to recognize God's guidance throughout.

Finally, on August 3, filled with gratitude, we joyfully renewed our vows at the Provincial House in New Manila. We were blessed to be surrounded by our sisters, who continue to support and accompany us with their prayers and presence. Together, we gave thanks to the Lord for the precious gift of our vocation.

As we continue this journey, we humbly ask for your prayers for our perseverance and fidelity.
