“Want to change the world? Start by changing yourself. Be an example of the change you want for the world and you'll drag multitudes with you.”

On the 4th, 5th and 6th of August, in Trindade/GO, the second stage of the ESPERE workshop took place, Sister Selma Aparecida de Souza-sjbp participated as a course participant and I, Sister Lusineide Cardoso de Melo-sjbp, participated as a facilitator, together with Sister Barbara Kiener-mc.
We were a group of men and women religious who work in the Archdiocese of Goiânia. The Group very openly embraced the methodology proposed by the School of Forgiveness and Reconciliation. They were very significant moments of personal growth, both on a human and spiritual level. There were very profound sharings of life. It was visible in the postures and looks the inner change that happened in people, changes in perspectives. Therefore, ESPERE's proposal is experience and not theory.
The sensitivity of the group was very touching, when Sr. Selma and I shared our pain, for the Easter of our sister Neide Aparecida da Silva, all the people felt touched by our expression of sorrow and some even expressed that they were edified by seeing and to witness how we felt about the loss of our sister. Suffering, but serene at the same time. I stress this point, because we were really in Trindade, but our heart-feelings were focused on solidarity with our sisters in the Province.
“Popular wisdom says:
- You can't expect different results doing the same things.
- Nobody changes anyone, because change is a unilateral decision that requires a willingness to change and daily personal dedication.
- The word convinces, but the example draws crowds”.
