Missionary Formation

From May 20 to 22, 2022, the Formation for Archdiocesan Missionary Action Coordinators, priests, religious and parish pastoral coordinator took place at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center (CAP), in Porto Velho-RO. 120 people from almost all parishes, communities and missionary areas were present.

The Archdiocese of Porto Velho, on the way to the centenary celebration of its history, wishes to revive the missionary awareness and practice of the ecclesial communities. She herself is the fruit of Missionary Action and, in Amazonian lands, she is called to be the voice and incarnate presence of the Good News of Jesus, being a Church of disciples of the Lord. “Every Christian community is essentially missionary, ‘Church on the way out’” (DGAE 36).

The program for the centenary of the Particular Church includes, among other activities, “A Missionary Action” to be carried out within the scope of Parishes and Ecclesial Communities in 2023. Therefore, the Archdiocese has offered this training to those who will coordinate the Missionary Action of each Parish.

During the meeting, the Missionary Action Manual was launched, which aims to: Awaken and encourage solidarity, to be “Church in Mission” and a sign of Hope in all circumstances of our life and in the various realities.

In the face of all this reality, parishes are invited to place “Missionary Action” among the priorities and illuminating focus of different pastoral actions; creatively organize the missionary process, according to reality, defining teams and missionary agents; prepare a study calendar and experience the suggested contents; to mobilize councils, pastoral teams, apostolic communities and movements, families and youth groups, community celebrations with a view to carrying out “Missionary Action” throughout the territory of our archdiocese in 2023.

This meeting was facilitated by Fr. Geraldo Siqueira, Pastoral Coordinator of the Archdiocese, along with his support team, ended with a beautiful sending celebration.

Sr. Rosilda de Lima, sjbp
