Glory and Praise to you Lord Jesus Good Shepherd for the 25 grace-filled years of protection, guidance, and bountiful blessings you have showered upon us. Amidst all problems and difficulties, your abiding presence remains with us over the years!
We celebrated the 25th Foundation Anniversary of Jesus Good Shepherd Development Center last February 2 to 4, 2023 with the theme “How infinitely rich He is in grace”. Our gratitude to Ms. Nitoreda and her family who donated the lot and to those who have started the humble beginnings of our school.
Three days of meaningful activities were engaged by the Shepherdines, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and guardians, friends, Pastorelle Sisters, and Alumni of JGSDC.
On the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, which is also the day of Consecrated Life, we held the Opening Eucharistic celebration of the 25th Foundation Anniversary which was presided over by Rev. Fr. Jake Rovillos, BEC Director of the Archdiocese of Lingayen Dagupan. In his homily, he encouraged everyone to be truly grateful for the 25 years of received graces from the Lord and the dedication of those who worked hard for the school, especially the sisters. Then a Motorcade followed. In the afternoon, there was a Festival of talents and the Folk Dance Contest.
On the second day, we gathered for the awarding ceremonies of those who rendered their long years of service to the school. A video presentation of the “BalikTanaw” followed wherein the short history of the school was shown. Then the Sports Fest happened. In the afternoon, the teachers organized the enjoyable Palarong Pinoy participated by the pupils, faculty, staff, and parents.
The last day was Family Day. It started with Eucharistic Celebration presided over by the Most. Rev. Fidelis B. Layog, D.D Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Lingayen -Dagupan. In his homily, he pointed out two things: First, “Know who you are and know what you do” he explained that it is not enough to know oneself, there is a need to know what one wants to do because everything we do will always contribute to our growth. Second, “Tell me where you want to go and I will tell you who you are”. He challenged everyone to recall the things that the school imparted to the students and how the students cooperated for 25 years in terms of values, achievements, and dreams.
Then the program begin with an opening prayer led by Sr. Janette Depalobos, followed by an inspirational message by Sr. Purisima L. Tañedo. The students showcased their talents in the Field Demonstration. The celebration ended with lunch together with the families who were present. We are grateful to the Loving and Provident God for the celebration of these 25 years of educational and pastoral presence in the school. Indeed, it was a joyful celebration!
