Pauline Juniors Encounter

On Saturday, August 24, 2024, the temporary-professed members of the Pauline Family, more commonly known as the Juniors, encountered one another at Jesus Good Shepherd School in Imus, Cavite, with the Sisters of the Good Shepherd (Pastorelle) hosting the event. This encounter, the first of two annual events, aims at fostering a deepened sense of family as shown in togetherness in order to foster collaboration and unity among the different congregations and aggregated institutes. Aside from the host congregation, among those present were the juniors from the Society of St. Paul, the Daughters of St. Paul, the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master, and the Institute of the Holy Family.

The whole day event was marked by a distinctively Pauline color, beginning with a talk facilitated by Sr. Purisima “Puri” Tañedo, SJBP, on Bl. James Alberione’s Abundantes Divitiae Gratiae Suae (AD) and its significance for each Pauline. Sr. Puri emphasized the need to be deeply immersed in the charismatic history of the Pauline Family so that it becomes a catalyst to discern and rethink the present so as to continue to progress towards the future.

After a brief sharing and group presentations by the Juniors, the celebration of the Eucharist followed toward noontime, presided by Fr. Lawrence de Peralta, SSP. The Bishop of Imus, Most Reverend Reynaldo Evangelista D.D., likewise visited and stayed for a hearty Filipino lunch, during which he met with the juniors, encouraging them to continue pursuing the synodal path, which this encounter was a concrete manifestation of.

The afternoon was a celebration of community life, made livelier by “The Amazing Race.” The Juniors were divided into 3 groups––red, blue, and yellow––and included their respective formators.  Comprising of 7 tasks, the game tested the thinking skills, memory retention, and creativity of the Juniors in order to successfully perform and win each challenge. With the Red Team winning overall, it was a festive expression of presence and the dynamism which marks the Pauline identity.
